There are two Pico-Robertsons on the block around 9320 W Pico Blvd. On the boulevard side, LEVEL: “the new standard for luxury events on Pico Blvd,” with a $6,000 minimum spend on its listings and a promise to “elevate your next occasion into an unforgettable experience.”

On the alley side: apartment buildings. Renters. Young families, retirees, people who work early and people who work late. Most of us will never book a night at LEVEL. Almost all of us have heard one.

The arrangement

Here is how it works right now. The people who can afford LEVEL get the party. The people who can't get the noise, free of charge, whether they want it or not, on the nights LEVEL decides to put the DJ outside.

It is hard not to notice who gets asked what they want, and who gets brushed off.

Not at your LEVEL

So yes: we are not at your level. We rent. We don't book ballrooms. We are, however, exactly at your property line, and we have the same right to a quiet evening in our homes as your guests have to a good party in yours.

Respect is not a luxury amenity. It should not depend on the size of anyone's budget.
